WHY POWDER COAT?
Powder Coat is one of the fastest growing technologies in the industry. In the simplest terms, powder coating is the process of applying dry powder to metal. The powder is electrically charged to bond with the part. It is then cured in the oven for a long lasting, durable finish.
Powder coating is just what it sounds like. Instead of a free-flowing liquid, the paint is in a dry powder form. IGH Steel chooses to use powder coating because it helps us provide our customers with quality products. The finish that powder coating creates is tougher than paint. It is thicker and so it does not create running or sagging on a product that it is applied to. Several powder colors can be applied before they are cured together which can create some amazing effects in a single layer. Being thicker, it is also more durable resisting impact, moisture, chemicals, ultraviolet light, and extreme weather conditions. The biggest advantage we see in powder coating is that it is safer for the environment than standard paint. It emits negligible amounts of VOC into the atmosphere which is important as IGH believes in taking care of our community.
The PCI Powder Coating Conference will return to Indianapolis on March 27th and will last until March 31st. It will take place at the JW Marriott and is considered one of the biggest events of the year for the industry. Attendees will receive education and hands on training. Networking and table top exhibits are also a draw for attendees. To register and see a schedule of events, please visit Powder Coating's Site.
